fashionably conscious and musically minded

Outfit posts may be in an abundance lately as my hours at work are slowly becoming less and less as they slash away at the schedule. Scary thought as my lease is up in September and I'm desperately trying to afford a move to Toronto! My goal is to make it big, oh yeah!! London, for the most part, just doesn't have the market for the fashionably conscious or the musically minded (I'm a classically trained clarinetist by the way! Focusing in everything contemporary and everything weird, I will post something one day). I do love London, don't get me wrong, it has been very good to me over the years. It really has so much to offer for being a smaller city, but contemporary classical music is definitely not its thing and there are very few high end fashion jobs here. Anyway, here is my outfit for the day! My top, skirt, clutch, and slip are all vintage and from the wonderful shop Lovesick. The skirt is a vintage Alfred Sung and is just beautiful! I am so in love with this skirt! My flats are from The Bay and my necklace is from a little shop on etsy called Untamed Menagerie.

polka dots and horses

I'm back from visiting my family in the country. I didn't take too many pictures at home, but I did get a few at a horse show and I recreated the outfit I wore at the bridal shower to show everyone. My dress, slip, belt, and bag are all vintage and from Lovesick, as per usual. My shoes are from Anthropologie and my ring is from H&M.

Yohji Yamamoto

It has been a great stretch of really fabulous fashion movies lately, from Coco and Igor (combination of my love of fashion and classical music!) to the Bill Cunningham documentary! Well here comes another great one and I am sure looking forward to it. Theo Stanley has created "Yohji Yamamoto: This is my dream" you can watch the trailer here, and for some extra Yamamoto love you can watch Alexander Fury's interview for SHOWstudio below.

Rainbows are awesome.

I have been running around like a mad person today. My cousin's-fiancee's-uncle's-son's... (just kidding I'm hilarious, no? just cousin's fiancee's) bridal shower is on Sunday. I love him dearly, but don't know her very well which makes picking a shower gift a bit tricky. Of course on the invite it says to pick a gift off the registry, but I felt like a pot or a potato peeler just didn't say "go pamper yourself, bride-to-be!". There were only two things on the whole list that seemed appropriate, massage booties and a foot spa. Off to the store I go. Except there is only one in the whole city and it is directly across town. I asked my boss if I could leave half an hour early if I skip my break, he agrees, I cheer, the store gets insanely busy and our computers slow down to a crawl. It takes me 40 minutes to finish one transaction that normally takes 10. I then leave work 15 minutes late and run to the bus stop. I make it to the store just before they close, find the booties, ONLY pair left, but the box is destroyed! It was a display model and had been opened and closed a hundred times. This is why you don't leave gift shopping to the last minute, at least I got the gift, but now my dear cousin's fiancee is going to think I have been massaging my own toes in her "new" fluffy purple booties.
This was really just a super long way of saying that I am going home to the country for a few days and posts will be sparse, but look forward to lots of pictures of wide open spaces and horses when I return. Oh and here are some pictures of my birthday party from last summer! My wonderful boy made me a crazy rainbow cake recipe adapted from here!

Fashionable Biking

I love biking, and mostly I love picking accessories for my bike and a great outfit to wear while biking. What do you prefer while biking, heels or flats? I have been a strict flat girl for some time. I fear getting my heel caught in the pedal, or slipping, but I'm starting to realize that these fears are mostly insane and damn do these girls look good riding in their heels! Vogue.com posted a great article about heels or flats here, I also love looking at back post from the Sartorialist featuring bikes.
Later on I will post some pictures of my lovely bike and give some tips on adding baskets to your bike the cheapest way possible!

Stripes on vacation

I'm really into stripes and since it's the time of year where all I want to do is get away and travel here is a post of what I would wear on vacation. Of course I would have my camera in tow along with a lovely striped strap, my journal, and a funky multi color pencil to make sure all of my notes were extra cheerful.

The Horse Rider's Journal

(cover magazine)

Cover magazine from Denmark has created a new magazine called "The Horse Rider's Journal" featuring everything fashionable and horsey. My absolute dream! I have been riding since I was 6 and can not get enough of it! Now I just need to find a way to get this Magazine in Ontario. Anyone have ideas?
More beautiful photos of the magazine can be seen here!
